There are so many rappers who have tried to cross over into movies, and only a select few have made it. When we first heard about 50 Cent’s dedication to his new movie, THINGS FALL APART, we all hoped that he would be one of the few that would go for gold.
With this newly released “unofficial” trailer, the future doesn’t look so bright…
50 Cent, whose real name (and acting name) is Curtis Jackson, not only wrote, produced, and financed the low-budget project himself, but he also caught us all by surprise and lost 54 pounds for the role. And he made the film for all the right reasons, too: THINGS FALL APART is a story of a cancer-stricken high school football player, based on one of Jackson’s own friends. So when we hear about that level of dedication for a passion project, and get a badly cut trailer filled with cliches, dramatic pauses, and a really bad wig, it kind of hurts us, too…
Take a look at the trailer below, and hope that this movie (with all the effort that’s been put into it) isn’t as melodramatic as it seems…
