TMZ is reporting that actor Jeff Conaway, one of the stars of the movie “Grease” and TV show “Taxi” has died after spending half a month in a coma. In his later years, he had become less notable for his work than his drug use – he appeared on “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” in 2008 where he admitted to being addicted to cocaine, alcohol and painkillers.
He was 60 years old.
Conaway reportedly had no brain activity since enterting the hospital on May 11th. His feeding tube had already been removed, but today his ventilator was disconnected and no attempts were made to revive him.
Conaway had been suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, a dangerous blood infection.
Conaway had become known for his angry, erratic and disruptive behavior. In 2006 he appeared on the VH1 series “Celebrity Fit Club” where he often became confrontational, whether cameras were rolling or not… (clip below):
