It was meant to be a ‘sweet, poignant’ Super Bowl ad. A guy is worried about how is first date with a cute girl went…. and is dying to know what she thought. But as the ad unfolds,Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â I wasÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â not, in fact movedÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â by theÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â tender momentÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â of vulnerability as the advertisement intended. Instead, I was reminded that society as we know it is just a tad more pathetic (and dangerous) than it was before.
Why? Because the guy checks facebook while he’s driving. No, he’s not looking down at his email… he’s talking to his rear view mirror! You see, technology, Chevy tells us, is now enabling us to hear verbal facebook status updates from our car. Because that kind of @#$@# is really important while we’re driving.
