Michael Shannon Envisions the End of the World in This Powerful TAKE SHELTER Trailer

If there’s any actor that has been making his name known around Hollywood, it’s Michael Shannon.  The man first appeared on my radar in little roles in BAD BOYS II (oh Floyd…) and WORLD TRADE CENTER, and he stole the show from everybody in REVOLUTIONARY ROAD.  Oh yeah, and he’s playing General Zod in SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL…kind of a big deal.

Now, before that little superhero movie, he has his starring role in TAKE SHELTER, a film about a man who keeps having visions about the end of the world and is trying to save his family.   With this new trailer, we feel the ominous tone.  It almost reminds me of a MOON or a DONNIE DARKO, and that’s a good feeling to have.

Check out the official synopsis and trailer below.

“Curtis LaForche (Michael Shannon) lives in a small town in Ohio with his wife, Samantha (Jessica Chastain), and daughter, Hannah, a six-year-old deaf girl. When Curtis begins to have terrifying dreams, he keeps the visions to himself, channeling his anxiety into obsessively building a storm shelter in his backyard. His seemingly inexplicable behavior concerns and confounds those closest to him, but the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within his community can’t compare with Curtis’s privately held fear of what his dreams may truly signify.”
