Ryan Reynolds, Julia Roberts and Willem Dafoe Get Very Depressing in This New Trailer for FIREFLIES IN THE GARDEN

Ryan Reynolds isn’t really doing too great with his fun/comedy films this summer (Check out my reviews for GREEN LANTERN and THE CHANGE-UP).  So since that ain’t working out, why not go back to some heavy drama instead?

We have for you today the new trailer for Reynolds new movie FIREFLIES IN THE GARDEN.  On a shelf since 2008, the film co-stars Julia Roberts, Willem Dafoe, Hayden Panettierre, Ioan Gruffud, Emily Watson and Carrie-Anne Moss. And it is one of the most depressing trailers I’ve seen in quite some time.

Check out the synopsis and trailer below, and if you’re interested in Reynolds sans comedy, the Garden will be open on October 14th.

The synopsis: To an outsider, the Taylors are the very picture of the successful American family: Charles is a tenured professor on track to become university president, son Michael is a prolific and well-known romance novelist, daughter Ryne is poised to enter a prestigious law school, and on the day we are introduced to them, matriarch Lisa will graduate from college — decades after leaving to raise her children. But when a serious accident interrupts the celebration, the far more nuanced reality of this Midwestern family’s history and relationships come to light.
