Ricky Gervais Back as Golden Globes Host!

I guess that all the attention that last year’s Golden Globes got was worth the controversy, because it has been officially announced that Ricky Gervais will be back for the third year in a row!

According to MSNBC, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association posted on its website, saying “Yes, Ricky’s Back!  After weeks of rumors it’s finally official — Ricky Gervais will be back to host the Golden Globes for a third year.”

If you remember, the president of the HFPA said following last year’s ceremony that Gervais “crossed the line” and his jokes were “totally unacceptable.”  (Or, you know…maybe just somewhat unacceptable, but not as unacceptable if everyone watches…yeah…I think that’s what he meant…)

Gervais commented on his hiring on his Twitter page saying, “Just told Billy Crystal he’d better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars.”  Sounds about right.

The upcoming Golden Globe awards will take place on January 15 in Beverly Hills.
