Sorry, STAR TREK Fans…Sequel Gets Pushed Back Almost a Year

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for all you STAR TREK fans, but you're going to have to wait a bit longer for your favorite sequel to hit theaters.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for all you STAR TREK fans, but you’re going to have to wait a bit longer for your favorite sequel to hit theaters: almost a year to be exact.

Paramount announced on Wednesday, that the sequel will be released not on June 29, 2012, but on May 17, 2013.

This is an interesting choice by the production studio, because while May 17th is beginning of the coveted Memorial Day weekend, the movie being put in STAR TREK’s June place?  G.I. JOE 2: RETALIATION.

The 2009 STAR TREK reboot also opened in May and grossed $257.7 million domestically and $127.9 million internationally. It had a budget of around $150 million.
