Davy Jones, lead singer of The Monkees has died of a heart attack.

Davy Jones, lead singer of The Monkees has died of a heart attack.

The Martin County medical examiner confirmed Jones’ passing with the following statement: “The District 19 has been notified of the death of Mr. Davy Jones. We are currently evaluating whether or not the medical examiner’s office will take jurisdiction.”

Jones, who is survived by his wife Jessica and 4 daughters from previous marriages, had been living in Indiantown, Florida. Reports claim he had complained of chest pains the night before.

Jones joined The Monkees in 1965 … along with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork. Their hits included  “Daydream Believer,” “Last Train to Clarksville” and “I’m a Believer.”
