UPDATE: Harrison Ford Will NOT Be Involved in a BLADE RUNNER Sequel
In a sad piece of news, it has been reported that fans of BLADE RUNNER will not have their wishes granted: at the moment, Harrison Ford has nothing to do with the sequel.
While we reported yesterday the rumors that Ford was being courted for Ridley Scott’s new project, it turns out that that is completely false, as heard directly from Alcon Entertainment producer Andrew Kosove:
“It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in BLADE RUNNER…To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we’re going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it. The casting of the movie could not be further from our minds at this moment. What Ridley does in PROMETHEUS is a good template for what we’re trying to do. He created something that has some association to the original ALIEN, but lives on its own as a standalone movie.”
As you can tell, while casting is far, far away, Kosove is trying to keep the lines of thought open for what COULD happen with Ford. To add to the speculation, he ended his comments with, “In advance of knowing what we’re going to do, I supposed you could say yes, he could. But I think it is quite unlikely.”
*Sigh* I guess that means we’re back at square one…
