You read it right…ANIMAL HOUSE is coming to Broadway!

Universal Pictures Stage Productions announced development of the project earlier this week with Casey Nicholaw (“The Book of Mormon”) on board as director-choreographer.  What’s even better: the Barenaked Ladies are signed on to write all original songs!

The show will be based on the screenplay by Harold Ramis, Douglas Kenney and Chris Miller.

Universal is hoping to add this show to it’s long list of Broadway successes, including “Wicked”, “Billy Elliot: The Musical”, and the national tour of “Bring It On: The Musical.” The theatrical division has also has served as a Broadway producer on Al Pacino’s “The Merchant of Venice”, and the current productions of “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess.”

No cast, dates or venue have been set for the developing musical.  I, however, am making a petition as soon as I’m done with this post for “The Zit Song”.
