BREAKING NEWS: Dick Clark Dead At 82 of Heart Attack
America’s oldest teenager, Dick Clark, died from a massive heart attack this morning. Both TMZ and NBC News are reporting his passing..
A rep for the television legend said he had been in the hospital last night for an outpatient procedure, and after it had been completed Clark suffered a heart attack. Doctors were unable to recuscitate him.
Clark was 82.
Clark’s suffered a stroke in 2004, and also suffered from Type 2 diabetes. While he took a year off from the show in the year of his stroke, Clark continued to appear on “Dick Clark’s New Years’ Rockin’ Eve,” which he created in 1972. Even though his on camera stints were shorter and his speech significantly hampered, his last appearance was a clear ratings winner over all his competitors.
Clark had a long history of successes in Hollywood. When he moved to Los Angeles in 1963, “American Bandstand” was already national, and moved with him.It kickstarted the careers of countless musical acts, including Madonna. He owned his own production company, generating hits like the $25,000 “Pyramid” to “TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes” to the “American Music Awards.”
Clark was married 3 times — and has 3 children from his first two marriages. He is survived by his current wife Kari Wigton.
