Kristen Wiig on SNL: “You have to leave things that you love.” - POP GOES THE WEEK!!

Kristen Wiig on SNL: “You have to leave things that you love.”

After reports last week the Kristen Wiig may be leaving Saturday Night Live, Wiig herself is speaking out and clearing the air. A little.

After reports last week the Kristen Wiig may be leaving Saturday Night Live, Wiig herself is speaking out and clearing the air. A little.

Wigg was a guest on Alec Baldwin’s podcast Here’s the Thing and spoke about it. (I know… Alec Baldwin has time for a podcast?!?) Wiig, who confirmed that her contract is up this year, seemed to be reconciling (or considering) her possible departure even to herself:

“I don’t know  … This is my seventh year and that’s my family … It’s my heart. It’s New York to me… I will say that when I do leave it’s not because I’m sick of it and not because I see something better or anything like that … It’s just that it’s time. When I do leave, it will be the hardest thing…you’re there for a week and on Saturday night you’re sad because you leave these people … You have to leave things that you love.”

That’s not encouraging for SNL fans, (cue a sad trumpet sound)  but it’s understandable given her already thriving film career. I’d hate to see her go, but I get it… it’s important to leave the party while it’s still fun.
