“Pacific Rim” Plot Revealed

New details on what may be the biggest film you haven't heard of yet! With a script written and a cast in place, what's this movie going to be about? And could it be the sleeper hit of summer 2013?

New details on what may be the biggest film you haven’t heard of yet!

After deciding to not stay on as director for the two “The Hobbit” films, acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro (Hell Boy, Pans Labyrinth) began working on a fairly secret project called “Pacific Rim”. It was originally said the movie would be a new take on “Godzilla” but now that Del Toro is actually working on the film and with a cast headlined by Idris Elba (Prometheus), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Charlie Hunman (Sons of Anarchy), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy).

With a script written, and a cast ready to go, the big question from Del Toro fans was: What’s this movie about, anyway??  We now have the answer!

Synopsis-When Legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes- a washing up former pilot(Hunman) and an untested trainee(Kikuchi) who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

As a fan of Del Toro’s previous work, including “Pan’s Labyrinth”, it is not difficult to get excited over a large scale, special effects epic like what “Pacific Rim” could be. Slated to come out in June of 2013, from Warner Bros’ and Legendary Pictures it could be one of the more important summer movies of the year as it is right now one of the only non-sequels or remakes on the docket for next summer.
