Russell Brand Sentenced For iPhone Smashing!

Russell Brand has finally been sentenced for doing something that many of us silently applauded him for: smashing a paparazzo’s iPhone.  And luckily for him (and for us), he ain’t going to see the inside of a jail cell anytime soon.

According to TMZ, the New Orleans District Attorney charged Brand with misdemeanor criminal damage for throwing the phone through a glass window back in March.

Brand’s attorney plead not guilty on behalf of the actor early this morning, and the two sides worked out a deal: the case will be completely dismissed if Brand pays $500 in court fees and performs 20 hours of community service by August 31.

Brand, who was facing up to six months in jail if convicted, happily took the community service, saying that he plans to spend his time working with people battling addiction.
