David Cronenberg Completely Trashes DARK KNIGHT RISES, Comic Book Movies

David Cronenbeg may be a legendary director in his own right, but that doesn't mean he has to love all movies...especially superhero movies.

David Cronenbeg may be a legendary director in his own right, but that doesn’t mean he has to love all movies…especially superhero movies.

While promoting his new film, COSMOPOLIS, Cronenberg was asked if he would ever consider directing a superhero film.  His response, to put it lightly, was less than likely:

“A superhero movie, by definition, you know, it’s comic book. It’s for kids. It’s adolescent in its core…That has always been its appeal, and I think people who are saying ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is supreme cinema art, I don’t think they know what the f*ck they’re talking about.”

Ouch…

While Cronenberg admitted that he liked Christopher Nolan’s other movies, including the arguable masterpiece, MEMENTO, he found the entire Batman trilogy “boring” and despite any technical brilliance that Nolan instilled in it, it’ll always just be “Batman running around in a stupid cape.”

Maybe he has a point about the no capes….
