It seems like everyone wants to bring realism to sex in their movies…

Only days after Shia LaBeouf said that he would have real sex in Lars von Trier’s NYMPHOMANIAC, it is being reported that James Franco has teamed with gay art-porn director Travis Mathews for a remake of  Al Pacino’s CRUISING that will feature real gay sex. Mathews explained:

“[Franco] knew he wanted real gay sex in it…His people went looking for a filmmaker who had filmed real gay sex, and I suspect someone who would complement his vision. We talked about his interest in the film and his interest more broadly in so many gay-themed stories and visionaries.”

The original1980 movie stars Al Pacino as “a police detective who goes undercover in the gay sex scene to investigate the serial murders of gay men within the subculture.”  Franco’s film, which stars both he and Mathews, only took two days to shoot and two months to edit.

Franco plans to release the film in the first quarter of 2013.
