Why Is Matthew McConaughey So Eerily Skinny?!
Over the last few days, the epitome of eye-candy-for-girls, Matthew McConaughey, has been seen around town looking skinny to the point of sick. Well we are here to tell you not to be afraid! It’s all for a movie role!
E! Online is reporting that the drastic weight drop was for McConaughey’s starring role in THE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB. The movie tells the story of Ron Woodruff, a real-life Texas electrician who contracted HIV in the 1980s through IV drug use. Though he was given just six months to live when diagnosed, Woodruff saved his life by treating himself with alternative medicines from Mexico.
McConaughey, who calls the weight loss a “bit of a spiritual cleanse, mental cleanse,” had said earlier in the summer that he planned to lose 30 pounds by the time shooting starts, saying on Larry King’s Internet show, Larry King Now:
“I should not look healthy by the time I’m doing this.”
You have to give McConaughey credit…after spending most of the last decade with his shirt off, his switch to more serious roles (THE LINCOLN LAWYER, KILLER JOE, etc), shows that maybe he’s trying to go a bit further with his career. And he’s doing it very well…
Filming on THE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB will begin next month.
