An All-Female EXPENDABLES Is Happening! And We Already Have Our First Action Starlett Signed On!
Ever since EXPENDABLES 2 hit theaters, we’ve been hearing rumors of a female EXPENDABLES movie. Today, we have our first confirmation not only that it’s coming, but that one action star is already attached!
Variety has now confirmed that the new untitled flick will be be produced by Adi Shankar’s 1984 Private Defense Contractors. Despite the horrible company name, Shankar and co is behind such films as THE GREY, DREDD 3D, and KILLING THEM SOFTLY.
As for their team of femme fatales, Shankar has confirmed that HAYWIRE star Gina Carano has already signed on, and he is more than ecstatic at her decision:
“I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of ‘The Expendables’ without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba.”
Really? Carano? I know she’s good and is turning into the next big female action player, but is she as important as caramel is to Twix…? That’s reallllyy important…
Among the many, many names being thrown around for the somewhat sequel are Angelina Jolie, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Yeoh, Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Garner, Lucy Lawless, Bridgette Nielsen, Zoe Saldana, Zhang Ziyi, Linda Hamilton, and Sharon Stone. We will see in time just how many of those beauties will suit up to kick some serious ass.
And it shall be glorious…
