TITANIC Director James Cameron and Mythbusters Will Prove Once And For All That Rose Couldn’t Have Saved Jack On That Door!

It's been an argument that people have been having for decades! Okay...maybe not for decades...but at least since 1997: Could Jack have survived in the movie TITANIC if Rose had just let him on that damned door?!
It’s been an argument that people have been having for decades!  Okay…maybe not for decades…but at least since 1997: Could Jack have survived in the movie TITANIC if Rose had just let him on that damned door?!

James Cameron has tried to reassure viewers for years that there was no way they could have both lived, but angry tween girls everywhere (including Bruce Almighty…) have protested.  Now, WorstPreviews is reporting that Cameron is teaming up with “Mythbusters” to prove once and for all that Cameron is right.  As he said in a statement:
“We’re gonna put it to rest….It’s not a question of room, it’s a question of buoyancy. When Jack puts Rose on the raft, then he tries to get on the raft. He’s not an idiot, he doesn’t want to die. And the raft sinks and kind of flips. So it’s clear that there’s only enough buoyancy available for one person. So he makes a decision to let her be that person instead of taking them both down. If they he had gotten on with her they both would have been half in and half out of the water, even if they could balance on it, and they would have both died [from hypothermia].”Makes sense, I guess…although it really is more fun to yell at Rose for being so cold (get it?  Cold?!  In the ocean?! Hah!  I crack myself up!)

Look for the episode later in this season.  And in the meantime, enjoy this TITANIC inspired piece.
