Matt Damon Says He Will Probably Not Be Returning For Any BOURNE Films

From the moment THE BOURNE LEGACY hit theaters, we’ve been hearing rumors of a possible Bourne super-movie with both Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner. However, it now seems like that will never come to pass.

From the moment THE BOURNE LEGACY hit theaters, we’ve been hearing rumors of a possible Bourne super-movie with both Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner.  However, it now seems like that will never come to pass.

In a new interview, series star Matt Damon spoke out about the chances of him doing another entry, something that is slim to none now that director Paul Greengrass would not be involved:

“I’ve always been open to it as long as Paul Greengrass directs, I don’t think he’s going to do it…From what I understand, [‘The Bourne Legacy’] relives [‘The Bourne Ultimatum’] from a different perspective. Because they use [‘Ultimatum’] actors and characters, [that means] that whatever they said is true and we’d have to acknowledge it in any Bourne movie that we’d do. And that makes it really tough.”

Well that sucks…It would have been like the spy version of THE AVENGERS!

While BOURNE LEGACY went into a completely different direction with its new lead actor and character, audiences still flocked to theaters and gave Universal a nice chunk back on its investment, so whether or not we see Damon coming back, I assume we have at least another one or two Bourne films to look forward to in coming years.
