TRAILER ALERT: Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in THE LONE RANGER

Last Night, Armie Hammer appeared on “The Tonight Show” and he brought with him the first teaser for THE LONE RANGER!

Costing upwards of $250 Million to make, the film follows “Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Depp) as he recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice.”

On one hand, the 1:30 long teaser does bring us a lot of gritty western action with a devilish voice over from Tom Wilkinson. On the other, one has to wonder if all the anticipation of seeing Depp as Tanto will overshadow the actual title character (you know…that Lone Ranger guy…?)

THE LONE RANGER, which is directed by Depp’s PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN director Gore Verbinski and also stars Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, Helena Bonham Carter, and Barry Pepper, chuga-chugs into theaters on July 3, 2013.
