After 22 Years, Judd Apatow Will Finally Have a Chance to Create His Own Episode Of “The Simpsons”

He might have not been famous 22 years ago, but that didn’t stop writer and director Judd Apatow from writing his own Simpsons episode!

He might have not been famous 22 years ago, but that didn’t stop writer and director Judd Apatow from writing his own Simpsons episode!

In a new conversation with Conan O’Brien on his web show, “Serious Jibber Jabber”, Apatow admitted that one of the first things he ever wrote was a spec episode of the hit animated show:

The first thing I ever wrote was a spec episode of The Simpsons. After only five Simpsons episodes aired, I sat down and tried to write one when I was in my early twenties. And what it was about was they went to see a hypnotism show and at the hypnotism show, they made Homer think he was the same age at Bart. And then the hypnotist had a heart attack. So now Homer and Bart became best friends and they spent the rest of the show running away because Homer didn’t want responsibility and didn’t want to be brought back to his real age. So I basically copied that for every movie I’ve made since.”

And with such an admission (and a perfect chance for a “Simpsons”/Apatow crossover), Matt Groening and the rest of the show’s producers have decided to give Apatow a chance to actual turn that script into a reality!

Apatow’s episode of THE SIMPSONS will debut next year.  As they say, better late than never!
