Warwick, 72.  filed the bankruptcy papers March 21 in New Jersey. Her publicist says that all her back taxes are paid off, and now she is paying interest.

Warwick listed her average monthly income as $20,950, (That’s roughly 250K a year) with monthly expenses totaling $20,940. (All tolled, just shy of her income itself.) She’s left with $140.00.

Warwick’s publicist Kevin Sasaki insists that the singer made efforts to keep up with the debts. “In light of the magnitude of her tax liabilities, Warwick has repeatedly attempted to offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed. These plans were not accepted, resulting in escalating interest and penalties.”

Five time Grammy winner Warwick is second only to Aretha Franklin as the female artist with the most singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
