You know the deal. James Corden has the super popular segment of “Carpool Karaoke” on The Late Late Show, in which he has musical celebs carpool with him on his way to work while they duet to some major hits. The formula, while brilliant, can always use a little refresh and Corden seems to agree as he continues to spice up the bit. The most recent karaoke session featured singing superstar, Christina Aguilera who brought plenty of high-note belts, but the comedy of the segment came when Melissa McCarthy popped up from the backseat to throw down the Redman rap in Aguilera’s “Dirrty.” McCarthy jokes about the obvious choice to have her as the rapper, but honestly, it was brilliant! She is one of Hollywood’s leading comedic actresses and I will watch ANYTHING with her in it.
Side note, before the hijinks even begin, Aguilera talks about Ryan Gossling having a crush on a Britney Spears back in the days of The Mickey Mouse Club. Can you imagine a world where it was Ryan Gossling and Britney Spears who rocked matching denim ensembles back in the early 2000’s? the very fabric of pop culture history could have been drastically changed!
