The Rock Returns to RAW and WrestleMania

It was a huge night for wrestling fans last night, when after almost seven years away from the ring, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock returned to Raw and announced that he would be the host of WrestleMania 27.

Back with the natural swagger and awesomeness that made him The People’s Champion, Johnson was announced at WWE Raw in Anaheim, California, and the fans went insane.  In a press release, he said:

“I’m absolutely thrilled and fired up to be the host of WrestleMania…As an actor, entertainer and someone who both loves and has grown up in the sports entertainment business, the opportunity to host 75,000 passionate fans in a live venue, not to mention the millions that will be watching worldwide, is not only thrilling but quite honestly the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s going to be one helluva an epic night.”

For years, there have been rumors and hopes of The Rock’s return to the ring, yet Johnson was trying to make the transition for his acting career.  While he said he didn’t have anything to promote, it is to note that he has FAST FIVE, which is also released by Universal, opening a few weeks after WrestleMania on April 3.
