Bruno Mars on Cocaine Bust: ‘I’m a F***ing Musician!’

Bruno Mars is an excellent singer, a seven-time Grammy nominee, and the go-to hook guy out there in the rap and hip hop game right now.  He came out of basically nowhere, and with that came a tiny bump in the road…last year’s felony charge for cocaine possession.

In a new GQ magazine photo shoot and interview, the 25-year-old singer did comment on the charge, asking what would people really expect from someone in his position?

“I’m not gonna preach that I’m a role model…I’m a f**king musician! But I’ve learned people are watching, so don’t do nothing stupid.”

Besides that small bump, Mars has said that everything has been almost like a dream to him:

“I keep it real…The last few months, it’s been a rocket … to Mars!”

In court in January, Mars told an officer he had acted foolishly and never tried drugs before in his life. If convicted, Mars could have been sentenced to four years behind bars, but he instead accepted a deal requiring him to pay a $2,000 fine, perform 200 hours of community service and complete drug counseling. If he has no other run-ins with the law for a year, no conviction will remain on his record.
