Mark Wahlberg Wants a FIGHTER 2

There are many unwarranted sequels out there…could a sequel for THE FIGHTER possibly be one of them?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mark Wahlberg said that he wants to take one more shot at the life story of Mickey Ward…more specifically, the fights that made him famous.

“I got bit by the bug, and now I’m trying to plant the idea in everyone’s head that we should do — not five or six Fighters like Rocky — but one more because the big thing that Micky Ward was famous for was his three epic battles with Arturo Gatti. So we’re talking about possibly taking one more run at it.

Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I can’t imagine they wouldn’t want to go back. But it’s still kind in the early stages.”

THE FIGHTER was one of the best movies of the year, no question.  (READ MY REVIEW RIGHT HERE!)  The actors were all great, the story was inspirational, and it was all true.  But does it really need a sequel?  Do you really want to risk ruining an Oscar-worthy movie with another entry?  And will Christian Bale have some sort of health problem after losing all that weight yet AGAIN after THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS?
