After a season of killer ratings, the finale came down to Kirstie Alley and Hines Ward. But in the end, it was NFL star Ward who walked away with the mirror ball trophy.

Hines was obviously pleased, and seemed a little surprised at how far he had come. “Starting this competition, I never thought I’d be in the finals … but I owe it all to Kym. I want to thank the judges – and all the fans.”

Kirstie Alley, a fan favorite who lost a reported 38 inches off her frame during the competition, was gracious about the loss, saying:  “It’s one of the most extraordinary adventures I’ve ever been on in my life.”
