Michael Bay Reuses Footage From THE ISLAND for TRANSFORMERS 3

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON broke records at the box office this weekend (biggest Independence Day Opening Weekend, and 3rd largest global opening of all time), but that doesn’t mean that Michael Bay didn’t save a penny or two here and there with some good old fashioned recycling!

Confused?  Cinema Blend points to a YouTube mashup that shows how Bay reused action footage from 2005’s THE ISLAND (also directed by him) in TRANSFORMERS 3.

There are two main shots that are obviously the same, except changed with the help of some special effects.

Check out the mashup below and let us know what you think!  Can a director be allowed to reuse footage from their own movies, or is it just lazy/cheap, or just plain strange…?
