Jon Gosselin, a former reality star and now ex-husband to Kate, has some advice for his wife, who is soon to be a former reality star herself. Now that TLC’s “Kate Plus Eight” is cancelled, she’s spoken publicly about being a bit freaked out about her future, and eager to remain in the TV biz. Jon has some strong words in response.

“Reality TV is not a career,” he tells RumorFix.com. “Get back to a normal life – a simple life.”  Jon, who himself took a drastic reduction in income when the show ended, still continues to pay child support.

“Things will work out the way they should work out,” he said. “Obviously, there are families out there that have several kids – people work normal jobs, and things work out.”

Kate currently has a farmhouse in Pennsylvania  – which she has expressed concern over losing if she isn’t able to maintain her current income level. Jon, who sees the kids regularly, is less than worried. “I don’t have a farm on 24 acres and the kids seem to have a great time at my house.”

Jon, whose divorce from Kate played out on TV in 2009, says he’s given up his reality career and is leading a simple life, working as a computer support engineer.

“I go to work every day and provide for my family,” he said. “I spend time with my kids – spend time on the weekends … and enjoy a normal lifestyle.”

Given that Jon was famously booted from the series, I’m not surprised to sense a slight sense of satisfaction in his quotes… but I can’t say I would feel much differently.
