Johnny Depp Apologizes for Rape Remark
Here’s a PR tip for any actor. Never compare anything to rape. It is always a stupid comparison that will rightfully get you into trouble every time. Just ask Johnny Depp, who’s now in damage control mode.
We know Depp is a private kinda guy – and now we learn that he hates photo shoots. A lot. He insensitively compared the experience to being raped. He told Vanity Fair,  “Well, you just feel like you’re being raped somehow. Raped … It feels like a kind of weird — just weird.”
Exactly the same as being sexually assaulted? I like Depp, but this was just plain idiotic no matter who you are, but even more so for anyone who gets paid millions of dollars to be in movies, and yes, get your photo taken. As uncomfortable as that may be for you, consider yourself well compensated.
Fox reports that Depp said, “It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling. I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology.”
Celebrities should take a step back and remember that no one is forcing them to be in the public eye, and any job comes with some inconveniences. I love my job, even when my eyes get tired from looking at a monitor. But it comes with the job. Actors that just want to act, should remember that getting photographed is part of getting your projects noticed. No one wants to hear you complain about it.
