Some Sad GHOSTBUSTERS 3 New Straight From Dan Akyroyd…Bill Murray Ain’t Coming Back

For all you GHOSTBUERS fans, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad movie news, but it seems like GHOSTBUERS 3 might not happen after all.

It seems like the road of back and forth news is never ending, but now, in a new interview with The Telegraph, Dan Aykroyd is setting the record straight, saying that even he is not sure if it’ll ever happen:

“I honestly don’t know. At this point it’s in suspended animation. The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn’t want to be involved. He’s got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He’s into this life and living it. I know we’d have a lot of fun [but] I can’t be mad at him. He’s a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn’t want to know.”

Damn the curse of being famous and getting paid to basically wave and tell a joke!

But…but…there could be a CHANCE that he’ll come back, right?!?   And if not, we could work around it, right?!?!

“We’re not going to do a movie that exploits the franchise. The script has to be perfect. I’m the cheerleader, but I’m only one voice in the matter. It’s a surety that Bill Murray will not do the movie, however there is still interest from the studio.”

And there you go…Bill Murray will not be back for a GHOSTBUSTERS 3.   Akyroyd has talked in the past about recasting him, or bringing him back only in a cameo as a ghost, but I have a feeling like neither would really work well for fans…

So the question is…will a GHOSTBUSTERS 3 ever get made?   And will it get made the right way?   All I know is with all the passion that Aykroyd has for this project, I would love to see what he has up his sleeve…

Or maybe they’ll just get Ray Parker Jr to play Venkman…
