BOX OFFICE REPORT: Weekend Ending in June 24, 2012. The “Three Guesses” Edition!

It doesn't take a box office pro or a psychic to predict that when Disney/Pixar releases a movie most fans flock to theaters to see it.

It doesn’t take a box office pro or a psychic to predict that when Disney/Pixar releases a movie most fans flock to theaters to see it. So it doesn’t come as a complete and total shock that BRAVE became the 13th straight Disney/Pixar film to come in first place in its opening weekend. BRAVE adds another princess to the Disney lexicon and also becomes the first Disney/Pixar  film to have a lead female protagonist. BRAVE had an excellent start to its summer run with $66.7 million dollars nationally and a global total of $80.2 million which makes it the massive winner of the week.

Coming in second much lower then its Disney counterpart are the funny animals of MADAGASCAR 3: EUROPES MOST WANTED who added to its huge take on its third weekend,  bringing home $20.2 million adding to its domestic take of $157.6 million.

Coming in third is the vampire hunting, ax wielding, 16th president of the united states, ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER which was far back of the pack with an $16.5 million weekend.

The final two movies to come out this week were the Steve Carell apocalypse comedy SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD which came in a lowly 10th place with $3.8 million on the weekend. Following that was Woody Allen’s limited release of TO ROME WITH LOVE which took home just over $300,000 dollars in its first weekend.

Next weekend is the perverbial calm before the storm with the Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey male stripper film MAGIC MIKE, Seth MacFarlane directorial debut about a raunchy talking teddy bear comedy TED along with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis and finally Tyler Perry adds to his MADEA films with MADEA’S WITNESS PROTECTION starring Perry, Eugene Levy and Denise Richards.

The Following weekend is when things get crazy with Marvel’s THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN which some including myself believe will be hugely successful, also releasing days later is Paramount pictures concert documentary for Katy Perry, KATY PERRY: PART OF ME and finally Oliver Stones action film SAVAGES. Yet my spidey senses are tingling with anticipation for all the web head has to offer.
