Get Ready To See RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK In Glorious IMAX Quality

IMAX is one format that is almost worth the extra money at the movie theater. And now, one of the best action films in cinema, the classic RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, will be getting the IMAX treatment.

It may be expensive as hell, but IMAX is one format that is almost worth the extra money at the movie theater.  If you’ve seen any film (THE DARK KNIGHT, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, etc) on that glorious screen and watch as the picture expands to give us beautiful, enthralling action sequences, you know how powerful it could be.  And now, one of the best action films in cinema, the classic RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, will be getting the IMAX treatment.

Joblo is reporting that Indiana Jones’ first adventure has been carefully reformatted to 70mm and will return to theaters for one week only!  But before you start protesting and thinking this is just another George Lucas cash grab, Steven Spielberg himself has come out to assure fans that “no special effects or other visual elements of the film were changed.”

And if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, Spielberg also confirmed that the re-release is about more than just the Blu-Ray marketing:

“For me, it’s always been the bigger the screen, the better…It’s the only marked contrast we have to the generations that are seeing our movies on phones and hand-held platforms. It’s a complete relief to be able to see a film that many people have just experienced on a palm-sized platform technology, suddenly hurled at that them on an Imax-sized screen.”

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK’s limited theater engagement will run from Friday, September 7th through Thursday, September 13th.

Do you hear that little theme song ringing in your ears?  I sure do…
