“Family Guy” fans, get ready…we have just gotten word that there WILL be a movie based on the hit animated series…and now, it’s all a matter of when.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Seth McFarlane confirmed that he has the perfect idea for the project, void of any issues that other animated films might have:
“We do know what the Family Guy movie will be. The Simpsons movie, I thought, was hilarious, but the one criticism I would have is that it’s a story they probably could’ve done on TV. There could’ve been an episode that had that plotline,” he said. “That’s the challenge with animation. You pretty much can do any story you want, so what is the reason for the movie? We finally hit on the answer to that question, and it will be something that would be impossible to do on TV.”
Yes, THE SIMPSONS movie could have been made into a three-part episode arc on television, but it was still a great addition that called up some of the best years of the series. The only question is could a FAMILY GUY film live up to the glory days of the show, a la SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER AND UNCUT, or will it fall flat like some of the newer episodes that have graced the small screen?
All I know is after TED, I’m willing to give it a shot to find out…
