Fun fact: for the first 6 years of my life my two older siblings unaffectionately called me “Dumbo.” While I may never have grown into my large ears like my mom promised I would…it looks like big ears are about to be all the rage.
Earlier today, Disney released the official trailer for the live-action remake of the 1941 animated film, Dumbo. This time around, Tim Burton is directing the film so you can expect this version to be a bit darker, with a bit more edge. Disney shared the updated plot for the remake as:
“Circus owner Max Medici enlists former star Holt Farrier and his children Milly and Joe to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere, who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant, until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.”
The deepened plot already makes the film sound enticing but once you hear who’s in the cast, you will be marking your calendars for sure. Leading the way is Colin Farrell as Holt, Michael Keaton as V.A Vandemere, and Danny DeVito as Max Medici. Those three names were enough to perk up my big ears! The film doesn’t hit theaters until March 19th, but you can still give your heartstrings a good tug by watching the trailer below!
