Much like the characters they play on television, the cast of the The Conners have proven their resilience. The Roseanne spinoff is slated to premiere next month and today ABC has released the official stills from the first episode. The first episode is entitled “Keep On Truckin’,” which we now know will focus on how the Conner family is processing the death of the former, titular character.
Back in May ABC announced the cancellation of the reboot of the hit sitcom Roseanne after the show’s star, Roseanne Barr, tweeted offensive remarks about a former Obama administration aide . The Conners was created as a way to continue the story of a beloved family without the negativity that developed from Barr’s comments.
The entire cast (sans Barr) is returning for new series. Emma Kenney (Harris) told US Weekly that “The first table read was great. It was so nice to see everyone, and I’m so happy. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.” It sounds like the show is truckin’ along just fine without Barr.
The Conners premieres on October 16th at 8pm EST on ABC.
