UPDATE: GOTTFRIED GETS CANNED… READ MORE HERE

50 Cent made a few comments and somewhat apologized, but Gilbert Gottfried took the cake and ran with it.

The comedian, who made jokes about friend Greg Giraldo’s death the day after, took the phrase “too soon” to a completely new level when he posted not one, but twelve tweets about Japan’s earthquake and tsunami that killed more than a thousand people.

A few choice ones:

Japan called me. They said “maybe those jokes are a hit in the US, but over here, they’re all sinking.

What do the japanese have in common with @howardstern? They’re both radio active.

What does every Japanese person have in their apartment? Flood lights.

A few more are below, and the rest are on Gottfried’s twitter.  There is a certain line, and personally, I don’t think that when it’s that huge of a tragedy, something like this is very funny at all.  But do YOU think Gottfried went too far?  Let us know what you think below.
