Survivor host Jeff Probst has hopes of becoming the next talk show king. Probst is getting his own talk show for CBS Television Distribution, set to start in fall of 2012.
“I’m fascinated with human nature and thrilled that this show will allow me the opportunity to connect with real people and explore their stories on a personal level,” Probst said in a statement. He will also continue on as executive producer of the highly successful CBS competition show Survivor.
Probst has been a substitute host on both Larry King Live and Live! With Regis and Kelly.
Probst will have some stiff competition. He joins a list of several confirmed talk show launches over the next year and a half. Among them are Rosie O’Donnell on OWN this fall, Anderson Cooper this fall, and Katie Couric in 2012. Two group panel based shows (a la the View) are also expected this year.
