“Dirty Dancing” Gets A Facebook Game And A Remake.
No one puts baby in a corner! Except maybe Facebook users, if they choose to!Lionsgate is joining forces with Face book to create a new game based on the movie “Dirty Dancing.”
The Facebook fan page for The films has over 10.9 million fans. (In 2009 it had about 700K but after Patrick Swayze died it reached this huge number.) It is now the ninth most popular movie fan page on Facebook!
Now you’ll be able to turn the Catskills Resort “Kellerman’s” as your own personal Cafe World, your little Farmville online… building the resorts, provide guests with activities and dances, and of course, spread the forbidden love.
The game will use watermelons as currency to purchase virtual items amenites and decor. (Remember Jennifer Grey’s hysterical line ‘I carried a watermelon?’
Lionsgate is also doing a remake the film. The new “Dirty Dancing” will premiere in 2013 – and will be helmed by the same choreographer who did the original – and directed “High School Musical,” Kenny Ortega. No word on whether Jennifer Grey will have a role, but c’mon, it seems pretty likely.
