Three Models, One Torso: H&M Uses Computer Generated Bodies For Lingerie Models

The models in H&M's new holiday lingerie campaign have strangely identical midsections. Why? Because they are. The company is photographing mannequins and slapping on different heads. They then use a computer to vary the skin tone, even add birthmarks or freckles.

The models in H&M’s new holiday lingerie campaign have strangely identical midsections. Why? Because they are. The company is using computer generated bodies and slapping on different heads.

According to a Swedish article translated by Jezebel, the retail chain’s press officer HÃ¥can Andersson calls the bodies “completely virtual.” It’s becoming more and more common for the store to shoot their clothing on mannequins, which are then given a ‘human’ look with computers.

Real models in these shots are only used for their heads. H&M calls them “facial models.”  They then add variations in skin tone and color, even occasionally add birthmarks or freckles. The postures remain the same.

Creeeeepy. That said, I would not be against having my head superimposed on a better looking body.

  • I want to express thanks to the writer just for bailing me out of this particular challenge. Just after exploring throughout the internet and obtaining tips that were not beneficial, I assumed my entire life was well over. Being alive minus the solutions to the difficulties you’ve fixed through your entire site is a critical case, as well as ones that would have negatively damaged my career if I had not come across the blog. Your primary talents and kindness in touching almost everything was priceless. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I had not come across such a subject like this. I’m able to now relish my future. Thanks a lot very much for the impressive and effective guide. I will not be reluctant to propose your blog post to any individual who needs support about this subject matter.
