In a new interview with The Independent, author James Sallis sat down to talk about about his sequel to “Drive”, entitled “Driven”.
Sallis confirmed that “Driven” will also be turned into a movie, with Ryan Gosling set to reprise his role as Driver.
According to Sallis, the book takes place seven years after the original. Driver has left the old life and is now engaged and in charge of a successful business. But when he’s attacked and his fiancee is killed, Driver must turn back and face his violent past. In Sallis’ words:
“He is trying to suppress the violence – but the sequel shows the process of him accepting that this is who he is…He tries to become a normal person and re-invents himself. After his fiancee is killed, the violence is unleashed again.”
Moral of the story: stay away from men in elevators with Scorpion jackets…you never know when they could snap…
