The Big Apple is hoping to draw people to Staten Island, so they’re going to build an enormous ferris wheel – the tallest in the world. I’m serious.

The 625-foot-tall, $230 million New York Wheel will join other magnificent ferris wheel attractions like the Singapore Flyer and the London Eye. Las Vegas also has plans for one called the “High Roller.”

It’s expected to draw 4.5 million people a year, and will have a 1,440 passengers capacity. They’ll build an outlet mall and a 200-room hotel so people have an answer to the inevitable question they’ll ask when getting off the ride: What do we do now?

The privately financed project faces various reviews before it’s official, but they hope to have the wheel turning by the end of 2015.
