Two And A Half Men star Angus Jones, who plays the youngest of the ‘men,’ has grown up around the racy content of the CBS sitcom. But now, after finding religion, he wants out, saying “Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth…”

In a story first reported on Deadline.com – Jones appears in a YouTube video for the Forerunner Christian Church, in which he claims: “If you watch Two And A Half Men, please stop watching Two And A Half Men … I’m on Two And A Half Men, and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth…. If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan … You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the Bible says and being on that television show.”

Jones earns more than $300,000 an episode as the son of Jon Cryer’s character, and during its initial years as the nephew of Charlie Sheen’s character – which, to say the least, often centered around casual sex, provocative references to intercourse and body parts and functions. In the fairly long video, Jones first talks about his church, and then goes on about the show, saying: “People say it’s just entertainment … Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch.”

I won’t lie – I’m not that wound up, but I’m often pretty shocked by what is said on TV these days… Two And  Half Men is certainly funny, but it’s made my jaw drop on more than a few occasions. Some might initially think that Jones’ might be making a joke or playing us in a publicity stunt – but I think this is the real deal. The video is way too long and raw to be a joke. It’s arguable that most people wouldn’t sit through this in its entirety – which would defeat the purpose if he were just trying to play a prank.

The show is not a stranger to controversy… everyone remembers the  noisy finger pointing that came when Charlie Sheen left the show.

So far CBS and Warner Brothers have not commented.

  • Good for Angus! I’m sure that his extreme piety and that of the Forerunner Christian Church will require two things be done immediately: (1) He will decline his blood-money pay of more than $300K per episode and give it to the poor and needy; and (2) the Forerunner Christian Church will refuse to take a penny of such tainted money and will give all tainted contributions this oppressed young man has ALREADY given them directly to the poor and needy. (Excuse me while I turn away to snicker.)
