File this under “Please, don’t…” Funnyman and Award Show scribe Bruce Vilanch had an inspired idea for this year’s Academy Awards, being hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway… One that involved Franco donning drag and doing a Cher impersonation. Just one problem, says New York Magazine:
“We had a great bit where James Franco was going to come on as Cher and be interrupted by (the real) Cher … But the song (‘You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me,” from ‘Burlesque’) wasn’t nominated, so she’s not coming.”
Whew! The great thing about James Franco is that he is usually up for anything… but if the joke fell flat, it would haunt him for the rest of his life!
