I guess the ratings were worth the controversy…
According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Ricky Gervais told an audience during an interview that he has been invited back to host the Golden Globes this year!
The interview took place at the Edinburgh International Television Festival in Scotland. And what was Ricky’s reaction?
“I shouldn’t do it…It’s a second encore. Don’t do a second encore. I don’t think I should do it. What am I going back as?”
This would be the third time Gervais hosted the show. While many fans and viewers loved the heavy jabs at celebrities that included Robert Downey Jr, Tim Allen and Charlie Sheen, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was much less understanding, with President Philip Berk telling The Hollywood Reporter that, “He definitely crossed the line. And some of the things were totally unacceptable. But that’s Ricky.”
The 2012 Golden Globes, with or without Gervais as host will air on January 15.
