VIDEO: Rick Perry Goes Embarassingly Viral

When a politician so horrifically fumbles a campaign stance, they've immediately entered the Pop Culture lexicon by becoming a viral sensation. Just ask Rick Perry.

We don’t talk a lot about politics on PopGoesTheWeek, but when a politician so horrifically fumbles a campaign stance, they’ve immediately entered the Pop Culture lexicon by becoming a viral sensation. Just ask Republican hopeful Rick Perry.

Even after becoming somewhat of a viral phenom last week with cryptic, punchy and odd speeches, he really blew it during CNBC’s Republican Presidential Debate, when he just plain forgot the third agency of government he “would do away with” if he were commander in chief. Squirm along in awkwardness as you watch the disaster unfold. It’s like watching a dam break… or a tornado approach… catastrophic. But you keep watching.

15 minutes later Perry recalled that it was the Department of Energy he was “reaching for.”

Going viral, in most cases, is something that  most businesses, public personalities, or talent dream of… but almost without exception, when it comes to politicians, it’s never a good thing.
