Our first look at the highly anticipated epic, CLOUD ATLAS, has made its way online, and lasting almost a full six minutes, it is nothing short of magnificent.
The film, co-directed by THE MATRIX siblings Lana and Andy Wachowski and RUN LOLA RUN director Tom Tykwer is an adaptation of David Mitchell’s best-selling novel, which “explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.”
The film stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Grant, James D’Arcy, Susan Sarandon, Jim Sturgess, Keith David, Jim Broadbent, and Ben Whishaw. The six disparate threads of life range from a South Pacific sea voyage during the 19th Century to America in the 1970s to a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with most actors playing numerous parts.
CLOUD ATLAS is set to premiere at TIFF in September. It will hit theaters on October 26th. And if I were you, I’d shut my office door, click the full screen option, and spend the next six minutes with your emotions running wild.
