Wrap me in blue fur and call me a monster because I am obsessed with these trendy NYC cookies. Located in Astoria, Queens, “Chip NYC” is a new bake shop that has foodies traveling far and wide to taste their cookie creations. The appeal to this particular bakery is their everchanging flavors of oversized cookies that are baked fresh on site everyday. To be sure I didn’t contract the dreaded FOMO, I made sure to scoot over to Queens and give these treats a try.
Being that it was a frigid 24 degrees here in NYC this morning, I thought I’d be able to waltz into “Chip,” grab my confectionaries and be on my way. That was not the case. There was a line of about 15 people waiting…outside of the bakery! That’s when I knew these cookies had to be magical.
The line moved quickly as the duo inside seemed to have a well rehearsed routine. After waiting about 15 minutes it was my turn to order, and luckily a fresh batch was coming straight from the oven. Today’s cookie choices were Butterscotch, Blueberry Cheesecake, White Chocolate Macadamia, and Walnut Chocolate Chip. The shop offers a deal of 6 cookies for the price of 5 which totals to $17.50. I am no mathematician but I knew that meant I was leaving with a half dozen cookies today.
Like a true foodie, I ignored all other senses, headed back into the cold and ripped a cookie from the box. The first victim was the Blueberry Cheesecake. Still warm, the cheesecake filling practically melted right onto my tongue. The cookie itself was almost cake-like beneath its cripsy outside, and definitely brought one of those roll your eyes to emphasize just how delicious the taste was moments. It was definitely worth the wait.
All in all my “Chip NYC” experience was scrumptous. I’d be happy to lose a few toes to frostbite for a snack this stellar. If you are a foodie heading to NYC, take a few minutes to head to Queens for these sweet treats, you won’t regret it!
