POP INTERVIEW: Rising Star Kate Garne Defines Her Sound With Answers To Our Five, Burning Questions

Published

on

The longer days and higher temps can only mean one thing…summer is here! When I think of summer I think of golden-bronzed tans, toes dipping into oceans and, most importantly, summer jams! Is it even summer if your day at the beach doesn’t have the hottest playlist blaring as you sculpt that sand castle? Luckily for you, I have the perfect artist to keep your summer as hot as that forecast… meet Kate Garné.

Blazing through Europe, this London-based singer and songwriter has been described as “the one to watch.” Amongst her biggest cheerleaders are BBC Radio and Capital Xtra, both of which definitely know a thing or two about talent.

The pop singer originally hailed from Manchester and began singing at the ripe, old age of 10. Impressive, considering I was still eating glue at that age…Garné has worked with major industry producers such as Røse and Naxxos to produce tracks that are filling the dance floors. The singer’s latest collaboration, “FOOL” has generated nearly 2 million streams online, certifying her “rising star” status.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to ask Kate (obvz on a first name basis now) a few questions so that we can get to know her better over on this side of the pond:

What is your earliest musical memory?

Music was always a big part of my upbringing. dad would crank up the tunes in the car on long journeys and we would all sing along. My first concert experience was the Spice Girls and that feeling you get in an arena was something I still get to this day.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

I can’t pin point a certain artist as music is forever changing and I as an artist I am always learning, growing and being inspired. Whoever try’s and succeeds in this game influences me greatly!

If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be?

Ooo Defo Beyoncé!!! she’s everything

What song has been playing on repeat for you right now?

I’m obsessed with the whole H.E.R album it never gets boring for me and Kamille – Emotional is my jam right now.

How would you define your sound?

Quirky pop that definitely comes from the Soul!!

***BONUS QUESTION***

If you were stuck on a deserted island with only one choice of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?!

… now this is a tough question!!!! It’s gotta be pizza! Stuffed crust!

A set of pipes AND an affinity for stuffed crust pizza?! Officially a fan now. Fan out with me and listen to her music below!

AWWW: A Rescue Team Of 9 Was Needed To Rescue 1 Adorably Chubby Rat

Published

on

Over in Bensheim, Germany a rotund rodent got herself into a jam when she tried to squeeze through a hole of a manhole cover only to get stuck…and honestly, I can relate. When I was 8 years old I tried to squeeze my thunder-thighs-in-training into a children’s swing and it took my dad and three other grown men to get me out. I am the German fat-rat!

Volunteer firefighters were called when a young girl noticed the fat rat was stuck and no time was wasted to help the poor critter. Eight firefighters and at least one animal rescuer appeared on the scene to safely extract the chubby critter. Animal rescuer Michael Sehr told BBC “She had a lot of winter flab and was stuck fast at her hip. There was no going forward or back.” When asked why anyone would even want to save something so many are repulsed by Sehr said “Even animals that are hated by many deserve respect.”

Alls well that ends well! Hopefully no authorites will be needed to help me shimmy out of these skinny jeans I thought looked cute this morning…in the meantime, check out the entire rescue below!

Elton John And Taron Egerton Performed A Fantastic Duet Of ‘Tiny Dancer’

Published

The dancer may be tiny but the talent on stage was massive! Taron Egerton and Elton John gave a fantastic performance of “Tiny Dancer” last night at the 27th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to toss on your bedazzled cape and brightly colored sunglasses then boy do I have good news for you. An “epic musical fantasy” about Elton John’s life, entitled Rocketman, is expected to hit theaters in May 2019. Taron Egerton, from Robin Hood fame, plays the musical legend and judging by his performance last night, we are all in for a treat. The audience of the charity event felt like a candle in the wind when Taron suggested an off-the-cuff performance of “Tiny Dancer.” There isn’t even a pun creative enough to embody what the audience must have felt when Elton John himself volunteered to accompany Taron on the piano!

In addition to a truly moving performance, the 27th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party raised more than $6.3 million for an effort to end AIDS.

VIRAL: There Is No Room For Love When This Dog Protects His Barney

Published

on

I think this dog missed the whole “I love you, you love me” message Barney was trying to teach all those years ago…

In this viral video posted to Twitter, an adorable pup channels his inner Cujo anytime his owner gets close to the Barney the Dinosaur stuffed animal. While the frenzied attacks are comical in themselves, this video should definitely be played with the sound up. While we never see more than the dog owner’s hand, we hear his high pitched screams of terror every time the dog take a lunge.
